FORMER superbike star Sean Emmett faces no action over the death of his wife in a hotel window fall during their honeymoon in 2013.

Surrey Police said the dad-of-three's bail had been cancelled after a lengthy investigation.

Abbie Emmett fell from the fourth floor of a Dubai hotel in February 2013, days after the couple’s wedding in Cape Town, South Africa.

Dubai police withheld Emmett’s passport for 10 months before concluding the death was not suspicious and allowing him to leave the United Arab Emirates and return to the UK.

He was arrested by Surrey Police officers on arrival at Heathrow Airport in December 2013.

Yesterday a spokesman for the force said: ‘The 45-year-old man arrested in connection with the death of Surrey resident Abigal Emmett nee Elson, in Dubai in February 2013, has had his bail cancelled with no further action taken against him.

‘Following the arrest of the man in December 2013 officers from the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team carried out a lengthy and extensive investigation and have worked in consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service.’

Senior Investigating Officer Detective Inspector Antony Archibald said: 'This has been a challenging and complex investigation where we have had to liaise with a number of different agencies, including the authorities in Dubai.

'This process has taken a considerable period of time but it is vital that we explore all lines of inquiry as part of our efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

'This will remain a live investigation and our enquiries will continue.

'We have liaised with the Elson family throughout our investigation and our thoughts remain with them at this difficult time. We will continue to provide appropriate support and updates for Abigail's family going forward.'

Tests showed Mrs Emmett, 27, had been drinking before her death at the Jumeirah Creekside Hotel on February 19 2013.

A British coroner later concluded the death was not suspicious.

A petition calling on the UK Government to assist in bringing Emmett home from Dubai gained over 14,000 signatures.

Emmett, who won 19 British Superbike races between 2006 and 2008, was jailed for three months in March last year for attacking 25-year-old girlfriend Lana Saoud after drinking eight pints of Guinness.
