Safe my life once. I was all bruised up from the belt. I say better be safe then sorry.

I think the most important is the passenger fastening it. As for you, just make sure you put it on when you have that couple of beers. :icon_bigg :

I have this same discussion with my stepdad all the time. He got a ticket and wanted to fight it. He has the right to wear it whenever he feels like it. :BangHead: My mom paid it secretely and now he says "See, they never came back with another letter!" :eh:

I can only tell him to consider why race car drivers wear seatbelts.

To the folks stating they have more protection in a car with an airbag but no seatbelt, than on the bike, think about this:

On the bike you have a helmet to protect your head from getting smashed on the asphalt. In the car, you have nothing to protect your head when you get t-boned and hit the windshield or sidewindow or get thrown out of the car.

I was in an accident once as a passenger and not wearing a seatbelt, we got t-boned, chick ran a stop sign. I got thrown down into the foot area and banged up pretty good. Had she hit a bit further up front by the passenger door, who knows if they had been able to get me out if she had not completely squashed me.

So, unless you want to wear a helmet in your car too, so when you hit the windshield or get thrown around in the car or out of the window, you got the helmet on to protect you. Oh, and don't forget to wear your gear, maybe even full leathers, too. :icon_bigg

sometimes theads get in wrecks and they don't have a job or insurance or anything... so when they don't wear a seatbelt, get in a wreck and fly and bang around inside the car, then go to the hospital, who do you think pays that bill?

I know I am supose to wear one, not trying to justify why I dont. Just stating my thoughts on the whole thing. Flame away, i know I have it coming anyway. I have been in three crashes all of them I was wearing my belt, yeah it saved me, so I know first hand.

We aren't debating whether or not you SHOULD wear one. We're debating whether or not it should be a law.

I think it's funny when people who refuse to wear a safety belt use that 1 story on how not being buckled up saved this one persons life. It perfectly justifies there reason lol.

Wasn't it insurance companies that lobbied to put it into law?

By the way, if you ever have a day off, and it is Texas legaslative session, spend a day at the Capitol and go to the floor. Listen to the bills that are presented. There are a lot where you just shake your head and others, where you wonder why they haven't thought about it sooner. Some become law and most don't.
