car inspection and cracked windshield?

I have a 04 mazda RX-8 and picked up a rock last week. Before i i could take it to someplace the thing has now cracked about 10". On the passenger side really almost to the right of them close to the edge. Will this pass car inspection?
thanks
Michael

if you read the little book to become a license inspector or whatever - the car does not have to have a windsheild - but it DOES have to have windsheild wipers. :laughing6

just as long as the crack doesn't cross the driver side view, you should be fine

I have a big crack on my windshield and haven't had any issues so far. We'll see again in a couple of weeks.

even if it does, as long as you can still see out, you're fine. If it's just fuct and all spider webbed, then you'd be screwed. But a crack doesn't really matter.

Texas law states that the light has to illuminate your rear plate so it can be read from 50 ft away. Depending on which inspection place you end up at, they may not let you pass.

yeah, that's pretty much up to the station you go to. Some don't check, others do.

i'm a certified state inspector (trust me not a big deal) but AmberF4I is right. the car does not need a windshield but it does need wipers.

But to answer your question, It does not matter if you windshield has cracks in it or not. the car will pass as long as everything else checks out fine.
And if they fail you for your windshield they can get into a lot of trouble! LOL and that's the truth:(

cool cool.
bout a month ago took my truck to one of those quick inspection places on jones rd. It's a ford 250 Diesel. They normally just check tires, lights maybe horn. THink it's like $12 or so. I am sitting there and this young guy opens the hood and is standing there looking at the engine area. I ask another guy working there what he was doing. He shook his head and said "i don't know"
Maybe he was looking for the pollution pump

there are actually quite a few items under the hood that state inspectors are supposed to look for. even on diesels.

not to question your knowledge, but what are they looking for? I thought diesels only have to pas the road worthiness portion of the test, not emissions...maybe an under the car inspection to ensure a cat and muffler, but what's under the hood?

checking fluid levels is part of your inspections now? Hmmm, I did not know that.
