Out of curiosity, anyone know what the top speed of a yz450f sumo is?

Gearing is a big factor, but...

Most 450 MX based motards top out around 105 give or take 5 MPH.

Some KTM's 450 have hit 116 at TWS (Texas World Speedway) on the front straight. KTM 690's have seen over 120 at TWS (Texas World Speedway).

They (MX 450 based tards) can still run high 1:40's to low 1:50's at MSRH if that is what you are wondering.

Then you probably don't understand aerodynamics.

Sounds like 450 motards are right around the same top speed and lap times as an rc390. Interesting that they, along with what I think was a cbr500(also not much faster than an rc390 if at all) was allowed in level 3 with the same closing speed issue that prevents me from going in level 3.

Also for reference I believe the ktm kup kids hit 120+ at TWS (Texas World Speedway).

Did you found his FB page and looked his pics or you were riding LV3 with him that day?

Anita Thomas is a VERY good and fast rider. She routinely mixes it up with tards on her KTM390. Much more closely (RC390 and tards) matched than many realize.

Which is my point, there was a yz450f out there in level 3 with 0 incidents.

Any level 3 riders from Saturday have a problem with the motard only going 105mph?

Aerodynamics affect top speed as well. Sumo's are about as aerodynamic as a brick which severely limits its top speed. Which is why the 60hp sumo has the same top speed as a 40hp rc390 with fairings.

Sumos are manly man bikes. We use brute force on our way through wind and all that other physics bullshit stuff.

Fairings are for .
