Road to Rio de Janiero: Inside look at Maracana Stadium
Maracana stadium is the venue hosting the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio De Janeiro.
Eager tourists from all over the world got their first look at where the action will take place.
"Amazing...amazing. You know, I used to watch many futbol matches here and it was one of my dreams to come to this stadium so finally I did it and I am happy to be here!," said Sofiane Aboutie, a French tourist.
Maracana hosted the World Cup in 2014 and is Brazil's premier soccer stadium with 78,000 seats. It has been re-developed three times in the past 16 years and is now considered one of the most modern stadiums in the world.
We were given exclusive access to the locker rooms, which have also been completely refurbished.
"It's nice to see how it's going to be real life. You can get a bit of your imagination going when you see how it actually looks," said Enton Egholn, a Danish tourist.
Maracana is one venue that's ready to host the 2016 Summer Games. Stadium renovations were complete four years ago.
