GMAX GM-78 Helmet Recall

GMAX is recalling 2,915 GM-78 helmets for failure to comply with FMVSS standard.

The following report is filed with the NHTSA:

Report Receipt Date: January 20, 2016
NHTSA Campaign Number: 16E003000
Component(s): Equipment
Potential Number of Units Affected: 2,915
Manufacturer: GMAX Helmet LLC.

THE RECALL: GMAX Helmet LLC (GMAX) is recalling certain GM78 full-face helmets, size medium, manufactured from January 1, 2012, to December 30, 2014. As such, these helmets fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 218, "Motorcycle Helmets."

WHAT COULD HAPPEN: An individual's head may not be fully protected when wearing this helmet, increasing the risk of injury in the event of a crash.
