Well it was a learning process. i ratcheted it up to table using just one ratchet on both ends.

ovbiously you run out of strap when they get coiled, but then figured you need two on each end.

once I ran out of strap to coil. Relaced 2nd strap and up it went. loosed previous strap, restrap, and done.

If you bothered to check out the video, that's a lift manufactured and sold for that purpose, not a shelf that some dude built in his garage.

I've hung kayaks using a block and tackle setup with a rope grab. pull down with 40 pounds of force, it lifts with about 80 before taking into account the friction.
