Marquez admits theres a lot of work to do

Day one of the Sepang test has proved difficult for the 22yearold Spaniard

Marquez admits theres a lot of work to do
Marquez at the Sepang International Circuit on Monday.

REPSOL Honda’s Marc Marquez ended the first day of the Sepang test down in seventh as his focus remained on adapting his riding style to the new spec-ECU.

The double MotoGP World Champion set a best time of 2:02.278 on lap 32 of 50 as he assessed a new engine back-to-back with the one his team debuted at a private Jerez test in November.

Marquez finished 1.594s off the pace of Movistar Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo who finished day one at the top of the timesheets.

Speaking about day one, the Spaniard commented: ‘After going the entire winter without getting on my bike, today we began the first preseason test of 2016. We still have a lot of work to do, as we have new electronics, a new engine and a few different engine specs to what we used in Valencia and Jerez back in November.

‘In terms of setup, we made very few adjustments, because we were focused on the electronics and adapting it to my riding style. It’s true that neither my place on the timesheet or lap time today are great, but this is going to be a long preseason in which we will have to work hard on many different things. We’ll see if we can improve tomorrow.”

Like day one, the aim of day two for Marquez and his Repsol Honda squad is to continue adapting his riding style to the new electronics package and hopefully see some improvements with lap times.
