Superdave I'm sure you researched before buying and know this already.

Major differences between this bike and the YZF450F? I was on Yamaha's website a couple days ago and both are the same price. I think they summarize as woods racer versus desert racer.

Biggest differences other than headlight and tail light on the WR, is that the WR is a lightly de-tuned engine (pretty much same engine except for the exhaust cam, if I remember correctly?), wider-ratio transmission gearing, electric start and exhaust.

Light/cheap modifications will get the bike performing like a yzf. If you're going supermoto, the WR is the bike you want. Hands down.

I work for a dealer, but not in the powersports industry. I was able to get a local Houston dealer to order one, and plate it for me.

The 2016 WR450 is an all new bike. It has the new 4 valve reverse cylinder head design, wider 2,3,and 4th gear ratio, yz frame and suspension (different valving) The camshaft is the same as the YZ, except for the decomp pin. With the competition kit, and exhaust (on order) it should rip for sure! Theres alot more that they changed. Heres a good read about it

Correction I meant the YZ450FX not YZ450F motorcross bike. The FX has wide ratio 6 speed, same gas tank, same suspension travel, electric start, etc. Appears only difference is lights but it's 22 lbs lighter so must be something more than that??

Other than the lights, I'm sure some of the weight difference comes from the exhaust, and maybe other EPA mandated . These bikes are green stickered from the factory.

my 2 cents on the bike, i currently own a 15 now. I got it right when the 16's were released. by no means do i think the 16 will be a bad bike, but the 15 used a lot of "leftover" stuff and the old style engine was tried and true. i also cant decide if i like the more aggressive styling or not.

the newer ones use a MX chassis, and i can definitely say they are a beast on an MX track. Mine goes almost every weekend. also is converted and has tard wheels, and i love it on the street.

had i ONLY rode dirt, i would have bout a yzf. but since it does EVERYTHING, the wr is the way to go. with the exhaust and ECU it definitely rips HARD, the only thing is the suspension is softer. easy fix!!

good luck with the bike bro, looking forward to seeing it!!

Looks much better with the YZ shrouds if you ask me.

I have a graphics kit on the way, but I kinda like the all white.
