Cop Kicks Biker, Gets Promoted

From what I can tell, he got promoted after the jury ruled against the department and awarded the rider $180k. I can't find the full vid on YouTube, so here's the last 30 seconds. Full vid is in the second link.

Cliffs:

Rider passes unmarked LEO on a spirited ride through the twisties, then makes a couple of passes on a double yellow. Unmarked chases him down, rear-ends him, and kicks him in the chest.

Quote:
According to the Register-Guard, Wilkens, 41, denies trying to escape from the veteran state trooper. He claims he didn’t recognize Edwards’ unmarked Chevrolet Camaro as a police vehicle and did not realize he was being followed until moments before he pulled the motorcycle to the side of the road and stopped.

Before being run down by the crazed cop, Wilkens testified that he thought he was about to get a well-deserved speeding ticket. Instead, he got a hospital visit, a damaged motorcycle, towing fees, and medical bills.

In a laughable testimony, Edwards admitted that Wilkens was complying with his commands prior to unleashing the kick, but that he couldn’t stop his kick as he “already had the muscles fired” in his right leg.

Edwards then exits the vehicle with his gun drawn and front kicks the entirely peaceful and compliant Wilkens in the chest so hard that it broke his clavicle and fractured his ribs.
I call bullshit.

That's why you shouldn't haul alone. I wonder if a Texas jury would have awarded the rider .

Wow that's up.

In the link -> "After the verdict last week, State Police released a statement that said officers should be shielded from the liability of civil damages.”

Uh no... Let's just give them a do whatever I want and get away with it badge.

I want in on some of that action I guess you just have to be in the right place at the right time. One half kick to the chest and being rear ended for 180k......

I'll take a kick to the chest if it means I get $100k in return.

More likely he broke his collarbone and ribs when he was knocked off the bike. That "kick" made contact with the helmet if anything.

His was promoted in early 2015

He was 20

I don't think it would have made a difference in age... he's 41 now, not 90

Aug. 3, 2012, incident. You could probably figure out his actual age within a year.

I'm actually more concerned about how the cop clearly shoves him into the ground as hard as he absolutely can than about the laughable "kick" that almost misses completely

Im sure the fact that he whiffed on the kick only added to the frustration
