errr wrong, they didn't have slippers unless they were aftermarkets.

ive had both, (06 and 05) and know, and im 100% sure that the 750s and 600's didn't come with slippers till 06.

the 04/05's are going have a little less braking power compared to the newer ones, but nothing but a simple rotor upgrage would'nt fix, they have fading issues.

the adjustable rearsets you arn't really going to use unless your laying ir way down. ive dragged knee on stock rearsets and dont ever scrape, maybe 2 times in my life.

the 06 750 is a dog in the low compared to the 05 its has NO tq, its power is made strictly for the track, the 05 is going to do you way better on the street, while still doing phenominal on the track with the right gearing.
dont get me wrong the 06 is a GREAT bike, but there are some things that poeple dont know or really dont use, like high speed compression.

now the 06 has a bit more top end, but your dont use near as much of that as you will low and mid, just take my word for it when i say you will have more fun and get to use more of the power on a k5 600/750

get a 04/5 750 and do 1-/2+ and youre eyes will get really big when you crack the throttle, i was pulling on 1000's with that combo well thats a lot of rider in the mix too.

this is just my .02 cents, btw, you can pick up a k5 gixxer for in the 4's sometimes if you find the right deal, they are a dime a dozen, a k6 is the lastest and current running design of the middleweight gixxer, so they arn't going down in price, or atleast until a new model is released..

oh well its your choice

Some of the others have already said this so I will throw out my $.02
I found my '04 750 on the CMRA website MBoard.
It already had race suspension, rearsets, stands, spares and race bodywork. It rocks. The downside is, it's not street legal. the upside is I don't have to insure it.
Obviously my choice was to have a track bike, I felt the advantage was that I stopped hammering my street bike, to me that was important because it's transportation as well as a toy.
You wouldn't be disappointed with a used racebike and for what you would pay for a newer 600 you can get a 750 that has a lot of trick bits, including sorted suspension, already on it. Suspension and motor... it's a beautiful combination.

i say the 05. still has the slipper clutch. and plus i think they look better
theres no slipper clutch on the 05

Why? Not hatin', just asking. Doesn't make any sense to me for a track bike. Why not just get a 750 instead of spending the money on a 600, then spending the money on a 750 engine, and then having the problems only a mod like that can bring?
theres no problems with a mod like that. i did to my o4. the 750 is based off of the 600

i have an 06 and would prefer it over the 05, but thats just me. but just FYI, aftermarket parts are-a-plenty for the 06-07 since theyve already been out a couple of years.

no comparison

For $7,500.00 You can get a real nice 06-07 Suzuki GSXR 750. I just sold mine for $7,250.00 and it had everything except a shock and the forks done. The bike was 100% mint. To compare a 04-05 to a 06-07 is like comparing apples to oranges. I have never seen a late model Japanese sport bike that was better the year prior.

you'll run the same times on the track w/ either bike.

your not going to ride either bike over 60-70% of IT'S capabilities.

Like I said, there are some who have done it without problems, but the fact remains that any time you do major mods you open the door for issues. This is coming from someone who used to believe that no car or bike should go un-modified.

Oh, and +100 on Ed's comments above.

Lock this thread up. too much spam already.
Go for 06 whatever, newer is always better 99.5% of times.
Quit with the upgrades. Why spend money to upgrade a 600 to run like the 750? Why upgrade the 750 to run like 1000? Just buy the liter bike and forget about upgrade.

I own an 06 and my buddy has the 05 and hands down my bike rides a ton better. Thats my opinion, but he shares the same opinion. You can save more money for upgrades but you can never make the 05 into an 06. So my two cents is o6-07 all the way.Its just money.
