HELP HELP HELP = build bridges in the SHNF!

Guys, Trails Unlimited is coming to the SHNF 1/11-2/14/16 to rebuild 3 bridges and check on our trail system. They are needing VOLUNTEER HELP with this project. There are 3 bridges needing replacement, bridges 3, 31, 28, and if 28 the last bridge to be built doesn't happen, we will not get the BIG LOOP reopened for at least another year.
TU is working everyday weekdays and weekends to get this done, but they need our help. There is a lot of equipment need to be moved to build these bridges and they are not on roads, but on trails so this is why they need our help. If you can and are willing to pitch in to get our trails back to 100%, all you need to do is call Jason Morton the day before you can volunteer and he'll give you time and place to meet.

JASON MORTON , SHNF, cell = 936-707-2822.

Please help us get the trails back to where they should be again and reopen the big loop.

Chris,

We should have all equipment and bridge materials in place by end of day tomorrow (Wed). Volunteers that want to come out during the work week (Mon-Fri) will need to give me a call on my cell (936-707-2822) the day before they would like to come out. I will let them know where to meet up with us.

We will have larger work days this Sat/Sun (1/16 – 1/17) and next Sat/Sun (1/23 – 1/24). Folks do not need to call me if they are planning to come out on the weekend….they just need to meet here at office at 8:30 and ALL VOLUNTEERS MUST bring lunch, water, pants, boots, long sleeve shirt. I can provide hardhats, gloves, ear and eye protection.

Jason

Got a great start on bridge #1 almost finished, but still need help on 2 and 3. Big job and takes lots of volunteers to get a 45' bridge assembled in the middle of the forest.

Checking my schedule.

Would a Polaris Ranger and a small trailer be of any help getting stuff where it needs to go?

They have everything, just need volunteers to help move it, bolt it, stack it, hold it, etc etc etc.

Bridge one is 98% done today, and they are just waiting for a load of rock to show tomorrow to finish it, We have started on bridge 2 and by Wednesday - Saturday will be needing as many volunteers as possible to get that one done before Trails Unlimited has to leave for awhile. Please help if you can.

Also a question. If i cant get there at the 830 meet up time how do i go about getting to where yall are at. Just ride there? The trails were closed on saturday so that kind of deterred me from hunting yall down.

The bridge we will be working on WEDNESDAY-SATURDAY is bridge 3 on the map. Gate should be open those days to drive down the road to the 2nd trail crossing on it. We will be about a mile in to the right at the 2nd trail crossing, see map attached

Yes Lisa, and got them back to Ed. Thanks for the help. The big Loop is really looking good out there, TU is still working on the trail but what I saw that was done was really going to be the best trail out there. There's still about 25% left to clear and doze but they should have it completed by this week. Hopefully they will have time left to work on the other 3 trails south of 1375 mud problems before they go.
