The gun protected his right hip. Moral of the story is you should carry one on each hip and use good retention holster so they stay put.

LOL, "great" would be highly subjective. Just another rider down thread. And his claim that the gun and knife saved some of his skin? Proper gear would have done the same. You know, since he's all "atgatt" n . Lmmfao, puuulease...

Pretty sure some riding pants of some kind as opposed to regular blue jeans would have done a better job than the gun holster

Wear them - or crash - differently, and those thing could easily have caused more injuries.

For the simple fact that anyone can rob me on the bike at anytime, I carry where I can access my pistol immediately.

Now as far as it saving my skin during an accident... Err, I'd have to be one lucky MF'er to get away with minor injuries... if you go down... you go down.

I would not carry under my seat (I assume you are talking about a locked rear seat). If you are confronted with someone with a gun trying to steal your bike while you are on it. You will lose your bike and gun. Better to have on your person.

Being that I was shot with a 9mm (years back) while they were trying to bike jack me at a stop sign I would rather have my weapon on me at all times. In my case a weapon would not of made a difference. They shot me before I did anything. Luckily I was able to take off and make it to a store to get help. A good thing about my story is 3 out of the 4 gang bang punks were killed by some other thugs before police brought charges.

Locked seat . I dont ride / commute through city streets / questionable areas .
If you manage to bike Jack me I was some where I did not belong .
Real world in full gear / gloves your not getting the piece out if you needed it .

When I say glove I mean real riding gloves ( not home depot work gloves )

Sounds intense.. Abdomen shot? Were they typical gangbangers or did they actually invest in some JHP? Glad you're o-k. That's a story I hope I don't have to tell one day.

I've always wondered about going down with my pistol on me.. I've been meaning to get a shoulder holster.

Gear saved a guy some skin today. He went down going pretty slow (5-10mph) and had a jacket, gloves, and helmet.

It's also worth mentioning that the guys gun flew out of the holster. Had it stayed it place, it very well could have caused some damage.

I was lucky they did not get me in the torso. The shooter popped out the front passenger window, sitting on the door at my 4 o'clock position. I still had my right leg on the peg sitting at the stop sign. Hit my in the right femur just above the knee cap. Bullet went thru the bone and fairing. Never did find the bullet or and fragments. We assumed it was a 9mm because they shot me with a Glock. The .40 S&W were not that popular back then. Cops figured the punk could not aim and trying to hit me in the back.

Only reason I had stopped for the car because it looked like a friends car. When it passed and had turned around flashing the lights to catch back up to me. Happened so quick.

That's crazy! Glad you are here telling your story

I've heard some crazy stuff about bike jacking that has me packing at all times on the bike. Regardless if I can get to it fast enough, I still have peace of mind carrying. Also, I use fingerless armored gloves so my trigger finger can do its job.

I usually just tape them all over my body, and I'm good to go. I don't even need to wear a helmet.

Open carry is legal now. You don't even need to cover up after you've tape them on your body.
