Speaking of the dragon, my neighbor just got back. He said he had a blast, and by looking at his tires I believe him. Too bad he had to put his triumph down on the twisties at one point. Only minor damage to the bike and nothing to him. He told me his top speed was in the 80's and corners were sharp and required a bit of finesse. One of these days I'll run out there and see it first hand.

That place aint for squids. It's very unforgiving. Sure there are lots of turns, unfortunately they are surrounded by rock cliffs, steep dropoffs or Armco barriers.
We rode it a few times and decided that endless hairpins aint that fun. Better to go ride the Cherahala Skyway or the Blueridge Parkway. Nice smooth sweepers and beautiful scenery as well. Miles and miles of great road.
IMHO the whole Dragon's Tail thing is for squids and tourists. It's worth it to say you did it, then go find some better roads to ride.

Appalachian mountains in Tennessee or North Carolina or something like that.

My boyfriend Skid and his two buddies (one of them being dub_b83's neighbor) just got back. He said the Dragon is a nice road but there are much nicer roads all over the place, you just have to know where to look. The Dragon was way too crowded.

There are no guardrails and turns are very tight all over that state.

I think the day they were out there, they heard that someone had supposedly died around 6 pm. Just an hour after they were on it.

Thanks. I will remember to keep this in mind, I do hug the bike with my legs but I've never focused on my stomach doing much work. However in just the 2 months (2300 miles), I have noticed my stomach becoming more tone.

Ah, a Suzuki Burgman 400. I rode one around the other day. Nice and comfy. I was surprised at how fun it was to ride. I do believe you could fit a dead body in the storage space it's so big.

You dress for the crash. So, add the pants.

And from what I gather, if you don't ride to crazy on it, you will be fine with basic gear. Now, if you ride like Brian used to ride (and still does on his ATV), then yeah, full leathers only.
