i know the outdoor range on the nw side has something like this for cops to practice

there's a range off 59n somewhere that has competition shooting, asc used to close early one day a week for outdoor competition shooting also. i don't know if either one still does it, haven't been there in a long time.

Mostly I think that type of shooting is done at private shooting ranges.
Like Pearland Sportsman Club down near Alvin. I used to be a member and once saw the #3 in the world, (at that time), go at it. Really impressive how fast he was.

Jerry is pretty cold with the wheelgun, his wife competes in USPSA as well and is also pretty quick.

Theres pretty much practical shooting every night of the week in Houston. Heres a link to a few clubs.

Eastex Tactical Shooters has an open shooting session on Tuesday nites starting around 6pm. It has IDPA style scenarios but isn't as strict on the rules, you don't need a cover garment and don't have to reload behind cover. For first timers, I would recommend watching a match first and then shooting on your second time out.
