Nice bike.

I've looked at those but I'm not riding much these days. :(

In 6th gear, 70 mph @ 5,000 rpms the bike has quite a bit a torque. Pretty sure Honda could have made 6th gear taller and it would still have pretty good acceleration at highway speeds.

The CB1000R is a great bike for city riding. Congratulations. The reviews talk very good about that bike.

I agree the rear wheel is a little...retro? I can't put my finger on it, but don't like it. The rest of it is bad , though. The wheel is an easy fix. Congrats

Nice score Bevo! I have always liked the look of them, the front headlight and assembly always reminded me of the Predator's mask. Plus it's a Honda, thousands of worry-free miles.

When I stand in front of the bike looks kinda Transformerish to me.

One of the most under-appreciated bikes in recent years. Mag reviews always say it lacks power compared to other big nakeds. Personally, I'd take smooth power and ability to run regular gas over monster top-end any day of the week. I like this engine the same way I like Triumph's 1050 triple - very usable and fun to ride power.

Gotta be honest... that rear wheel is a bit of an weak point styling wise. Honda should've put the VFR1200's 5-bolt rear wheel on this puppy. But I understand it's the VFR800 rear end, so the wheel goes with it. Love SSSA and how easy the wheel goes on and off.

Nice pair you got there.

This is the only naked liter bike I've ridden so I can only really compare it to my CBR. Both have a 16 tooth sprocket up front. The CBR has a 42T rear while the CB has a 44T rear. Throttle response is surprisingly good at 70 mph in 6th so I think it could work with a taller gearing. I think I'd like to replace the rear sprocket with a quality steel 42T but I don't know if they're out there.

Honda dropped the gearing thinking most naked riders are more into popping wheelies and other hooligan antics. I think going back up to RR gearing is a good move. Why not swap to a 15T up front instead? It's cheaper, and does pretty much the same thing as a 42T rear. It should fit under the cover just fine. If you do, get a quiet one like these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Honda-CB1000...-/281858516216 I had one on the RSV1000R, then switched to a regular one and realized what a treat that quiet front sprocket was. And I wear earplugs.

I think they geared for city streets as opposed to highway speeds

I really contemplated getting the CB1000R, just didn't want a bike payment. It is on the list of bikes I plan on owning one day.
