Crashed helmet for track days

Can I still use my helmet that I crashed on for track days? From what I could see the damaged was only a few scratches, and it is very noticeable if it is inspected. Will ridesmart allow me to use this helmet on a track day event?

They didn't really check anything for me other than taped glass and the fact that I did indeed have a helmet. Didn't need to see my suit or gloves or back protector... Etc.

That said, why the are you wearing a crashed helmet? One the foam in it breaks, the structural integrity is . At least pull the pads out and make sure the foam isn't visibly broken

It's your head so you should be the judge of the safety concerns involved in wearing a damaged hrlmet. I have worn and raced in helmets after a wreck while discarding others. It all depends on the damage. I wouldn't look to the opinions of anyone here on your safety. It's your head and your money. You need to figure out which is more important in this matter.

Thanks for all valid points guys. I'm just holding on to my crashed helmet until the new shoei x14 comes out and see how it will look and fit my head. I could go buy the hjc rpha10 but I want to wait as long as possible and the first ridesmart track day is scheduled on feb13.

^^THIS^^

IMO it's not worth the risk. If they hit the ground it automatically became a memorabilia and it goes to the shelf with the others

RPHA10 is a sweet lid. Love mine, it's just a tad loud. The price of it being lightweight I guess.

you can't send it in and have them inspect it? I've heard that's a thing idk I may be wrong. I wouldn't risk it.

Did the helmet strike anything, or did it just slide against the pavement and ground? Did your head impact the liner? If it's just superficial scratches put a decal over them.

If anyone really cared about their brain they wouldn't get on a bike in the first place

I have a good friend Jon Broom that had a good helmet on. He crashed at Cresson and now his mom and dad feed him and he is really messed up. So I guess if you don't mind being a burden on family and society, have at it. That is if you survive the head trauma.
