Best Radar detectors

After my ride with jet, I'm thinking a radar detector would be a good investment.
My question(s) are as followed:

What's the best one (in your opinion)?
What do you have? Has it failed?

Price isn't that big of an issue, but if one does the same thing cheaper, guess which one I'm picking.

Escort 8500, mine is 2 or 3 years old, it does double duty between the truck and the bike with no problems, it's saved me lots of hassles and costs $285.00.
FWIW, I've got a few in stock.

How do you guys mount it on the bikes? I've seen it velcro'd underneath the mirror.

Yep, everything from the H.A.R.D. unit for your helmet to a stem stand to mount it.

i have the escort x50...the newer one with the blue lettering, but yeah, i have gotten saved so many times. i dont like the new 9500i because of all the complaints. it has an 85% return rate right now. not good in my book...

My girlfriend and I both have Valentine 1 for more than 5 years and they have saved us many times. the only problem is the coil wire gets brittle in the heat and needed to be replaced.
