Funeral services announced for Hall of Fame UH basketball coach Guy V. Lewis

The University of Houston has announced funeral services for legendary basketball coach Guy V. Lewis.

Lewis died Thursday at the age of 93.

There will be a public viewing from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the UH Chapel at 3841 Cullen Blvd.

After the viewing, a tribute for Lewis will be held during halftime of the UH men's basketball game against Murray State. Relatives of Lewis will be in attendance.

Lewis' funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church. Those who plan to attend have been asked to wear red. University officials said Lewis will be laid to rest in a private ceremony after the service.

A reception will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the John O'Quinn Great Hall at the UH Athletics/Alumni Center.
