Street legal conversion

Well looks like I'm gonna be trading my savage for a 03 klx 400r the dirt version...how hard is it gonna be to make it street legal? I really want a supermoto to ride to work and fart around on! Or should I keep my savage and pretend it's a supermoto?

That is just a DRZ-e right? Make sure you get a title. Plenty of info online to make a DRZ streetable.

If you have an off road only title, you can do the bare minimum or go full out for a Baja Designs conversion kit (@around $450-510), then get a green tag inspection, and a quick trip to the tax office for a street legal title.

You will need a hi/lo headlight if over 250cc, a horn, rear running light, brake light activated by one brake (rear is easiest), licence plate light, one mirror, and DOT tires.

Good luck.

I ran my switch on the front brake because its used 99% of the time on the street

keep in mind horn can literally be a squeeze horn.

and once again PM me when you need a state

Found this cheap setup. Just runs of its own power supply

That's a good setup for someone wanting simplicity

I have like, 20 bucks in getting my WR to pass state lol. Loop holes! I personally wanted to spend as little as possible because all that stuff will brake off.

also, your factory running light MAY be a 3 wire on that bike.

awesome bro, keep us posted. the great thing about the KLX is its really a green DRZ. I believe EVERYTHING is interchangeable, and drz stuff is cheap. they are solid bikes, basically a two wheeled tank. they are a wee bit heavy for me though. and a little slow lol.

I ended up trading in my street triple on a '15 wr450f and haven't looked back since. it was motarded out in a month lol
