Legendary University of Houston menís head basketball coach Guy Lewis dies

The family confirms legendary University of Houston menís head basketball coach Guy Lewis has died. He was 93.

Guy Vernon Lewis, II was born March 19, 1922 in Arp, Texas.* Lewis was a former basketball player as well as coach. For 30 years Lewis served as head coach for the men's basketball at the University of Houston. The Houston Cougars made five appearances in the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament, in 1967, 1968, 1982, 1983, and 1984 under his direction. In 2007 Lewis was inducted into the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame. In 2013 he made it into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
