I've started tearing my chopper down. Will post pictures as soon as I start getting the parts together. Gonna make my pig squeal come spring time... stay tuned for the build progress

Going with a Magnacharger and going from a closed primary to an open one (haven't found a primary that I like yet)... Supercharger will look kind of like this, but prettier

Engine work will be pretty extensive... full build. Reason for doing this is my main engine seal is leaking from the gasket and I want more kick out of it.

This thread reminds me of another one that I read a long time ago. Some guy was doing all this "hot rodding" on a V-twin engine: cams; pistons; stroker crank; compression; huge throttle bodies; exhaust; turbo; whatever. After many thousands of dollars; trips to speed shops; machine shops; and countless hours, he finally gets the monster running. Took it to a dyno to be tested. Horsepower increased from an original 75, up to about 120. Then he took it to the drag strip. The ET. was down considerably, and the MPH was up nicely. What an accomplishment.

Then one day he was describing all this to one of his neighbors, who had been observing all this activity, expense and effort. The neighbor replied:
Well, that is all well and good, but my Japanese motorcycle will still outrun yours. The V-twin guy asked what all it took to get the bike to run that good. The bike guy replied: All I have to do is to turn the key on and press the start button. It came from the factory with 175 horsepower.

On the other hand, I can certainly appreciate the process of improving a machine that you own. I have done that many times myself. So carry on, and I hope the project goes very well and is highly successful and rewarding.

I'm certainly not building this to out run other bikes. I've owned many bikes and done many things on them... my main reason for joining this forum 5+ years ago. So, I'm not here to say my Merrican' bike will eat your rice burning wasp of a scooter (I ride anything with 2 wheels and love them all).

I like custom pieces and I really like chrome... LOTS of it! This bike just happens to be a great pallet for most of my creative thoughts. Stay tuned though, it'll get pretty interesting

Do what you want. I would love to see the end result! Who cares about the other bikes you can buy turn-key that would be cheaper/easier/whatever.

That'll be ! You should start a build thread as well

My build is slightly more than just a supercharger though.

Anyone have a paint spray gun I can use? I'm going to paint my tank and fenders myself. , if someone has a shop, I will pay to let me use their facility and some of the equipment. Until I know what my capabilities are, I don't feel like dropping the money on all that equipment and tools.

Soooooo, many months later and I am putting it all back together to enjoy the rest of this summer.

I got it torn down and then discovered the lead time on the supercharger was a little out there. Then we decided to remodel the master bathroom, buy a ZL1 Camaro, and finally our HVAC unit on the house decided it was time to checkout. Long story short, I'm still going to do the build, but it'll be a long term project. I will post progress on parts as they come in.

Keith, I'll see you guys soon! I've managed to get it back on 2 wheels again. Hope to have it running by next month. No changes yet, just cleaned up a few things and new seals.
