I think it's fkn awesome! If I wasn't so rooted at home with friends/family/kids, I would definitely do something like this.

It might be something I'd consider when I'm older (post 60, just for fun), but nothing permanent. I'd do it as a long term road trip type of deal.

Since buying my house, I realize I'm quite the minimalist. I'm going to end up spending more money for the things in my garage than I am on a TV/furniture etc. ha.

My buddy Wade builds these for around $6k. His have A/C and a generator and a few more creature comforts, but same basic idea. And they sleep two big adults.

Back before there was a mortgage or a child, I took a month leave of absence from work and my wife (school teacher) had the summer off.
Had our mail delivery stopped, told the elderly next door neighbors and the landlord and we took off camping.

Out thru west texas, up to the panhandle then over into new Mexico. All over Colorado, then thru Utah and Wyoming. Crossed into Montana thru Yellowstone natl park. Headed west and wound up in the Selway/Bitterroot wilderness area. The largest wilderness area in the lower 48, in northern Idaho.
Then we worked our way back to texas. All in a tent and an old GMC Jimmy.

It was awesome! Every few days we'd get a hotel room for a shower, a pizza and to see if the world had exploded. Saw things we'd never have gotten to see and made memories we'll never forget.
If you can find a way, I highly recommend it!

Keep a journal, 20 years from now it will help you remember things you'd otherwise forget.

I've been looking at building one for myself, don't know that I'd live in it though.

If any of you guys are interested in DIY on a teardrop or similar, check out http://www.tnttt.com/ (Teardrops 'n Tiny Travel Trailers). Interesting community with tons of experience and advice.
