motorcycle down!!!

The battery on the bike died on me this morning (at least, i'm assuming it's the battery).

I have an '03 Yamaha R6 and was wondering if any of you guys have any suggestions on what brand battery is the best and also what brand spark plug is best for the yamaha's.

Thanks

I ride it almost every day. It has been idling pretty low for about 2 weeks and would shut off when i throttled too hard for the first 10 minutes, but, after it would be fine. This morning, took it out...hit the throttle and then it shut off again and wouldn't come back up. Went to try to turn it back on but, it wouldn't start. Figured it was the battery

spark plugs could be fouled out.

before you buy a new battery charge it and load test it. you may not need a new battery!

I appreciate all the help and tips, guys. Still new to the bike scene, so i'm still learning!

What do you mean when you say "load test it?"

Check your voltage regulator. Do you let the engine warm up before whacking the throttle? Could also have a stator problem, has the bike ever been dropped?

If the bike cranks and the headlight is strong then it's probably not the battery.

Yes, always let it warm up till the word "LO" on the gauge turns into the actual temperature. I'm the second owner, but, i've never dropped it since i've had it.

Also, check your fuel filter if you can. I had a simular problem and my fuel filter had gotten clogged up. Mainly cause I had my old tank off getting painted. Hope that's not the problem...that could get expensive.

I don't hop on my bike until the temp says 160 or better. Does it crank?

Eh, a load tester checks to see if the battery is strong or weak. take is to autozone, they'll test it for ya. or find you one of these (which is what i always use)

No, it won't turn over now. I go to turn the key and the lights on the gauges come up until i try to turn the engine on, then it shuts off...
