Now I can't wait to get home and watch it tonight! I'll have to move a TV into the garage so I can watch it while rewiring my right rear blinker. Man that has to be one expensive engine to blow up! Some engineer is getting a stern talking to after that!

Rough start for Hayden. Crashed in FP1, Blow'd up in FP2.

Randy DePuniet was riding like he was in fear of his life, or at least his job.

Sylvain Guintoli from out of nowhere on the dunlops. I wasn't paying too much attention, so I don't know of if his time was set on a qualifyer or not.

I think the same pretty much applies for the whole season. It's no secret that the Honda has flat out sucked. Down on power, little/no feeling from the front end. Look at all the Honda riders results this season. No Honda victories, and podiums are hard to come by. They are all complaining of the same problems.

As far as lack of support for Nicky, I don't completely buy that. Sometimes (at least last season) he chose not to use some of the newer parts. But his big improvement this season came when he switched over to using Pedrosa's chassis. Pedrosa was having a bit better success with it at least.

Melandri FINALLY received some new bits for this race, and it seems to already be having an effect.

http://www.crash.net/news_view~cid~6~id~151143.htm

So, I don't think it's really fair to single out Hayden when Nakano, Melandri, Elias have been consistently, and drasticallly off the pace this whole season as well. Pedrosa seems to be hit or miss as well.

Like the guy or not, Honda has a lot of catching up to do.

Can you give some specific sources/links for that?

Remember, last season Hayden's bike was unique. Not only was he getting newer bits, but his engine was a completely different layout than any of the other RC211s out there. Remember the clutch fiasco for several races. Only on Nicky's bike.

When he was struggling, he admitted he couldn't really exchange too much data with the other Honda riders, because it wouldn't necessairly apply to his bike. He also stated that his bike is what they would use as a basis for the 800.

I think that is true, but they shortened all the dimensions to fit Pedrosa better. Everything else is from Nicky's development.

Don't read/listen much? All last season Honda had Haden testing NEW parts while he was in the hunt for the championship, including the new clutch. Pedrosa should have been the testing and let Nicky run the proven/workable stuff, but Pedrosa's a-hole agent threatend them with the Repsol/Spanish connection, and look what happened. Honda has suffered ever since Burgess left with Rossi, you can follow that much in the results. If you think they built a bike for Pedrosa's demunitive frame you are in dreamland. Look at the rake, trail, and wheelbase numbers for the new 600RR. Honda is relying TOO much on electronics for stability and power delivery, and they seem to be looking for handling in the set up numbers. They HAD to put an electronic dampner on the new 600 due to the twitchy handling with a shorter wheelbase and more aggrsive r/t. They were all up Nicky's after he won them the championship despite all the testing , and swore to him he'd be the #1 guy on the factory team, thus he renewed his contract. I'd love to see him join up with Rossi again in the Yamaha camp, despite the fact it would displace Colin. I love my Honda, but have very little respect for what they do to Nicky on a weekly basis. Hard to defend a championship when the factory has priorites out of whack, they still think that Pedrosa is going to be thier future. I don't EVER see that happening as long as Rossi is around, he seems to have something personal agains the Robot boy................my.02

Dani says his elbows touch his knees now which he couldn't do last season. Hayden says he's cramped.

Of the 27 available podiums so far this season it falls out like this...

Honda 8
Ducati 8
Yamaha 8
Suzuki 3

Nicky's only podium came from turning off some of the traction control electronics and going old school. I remember an interview last season where Nicky was all but going to cry when talking of the clutch problems and the lack of help from the factory in that reguard. It is no secret that Nicky is the "Redheaded Stepchild" in the Honda garage. And as for the bike built for Pedrosa and him touching his elbows and knees, you have to remember he's only 5'4" so the bike will fit him better as would anyother bike on the grid this year. Colin looks like the monkey on the football on the Yami. Not calling you out Arturo, just enjoy a good debate with facts.
