1. So what if there are signs informing you of the camera? Are you implying that it's ok to run a light if there's no camera?

2. Maybe the tickets are unjust that's why were speaking out against them? Some people take a stand against what they think is wrong. Others just do what they're told.

3. Not only should they increase the yellow time they should increase the time before the next signal turns green. With the way people in the city tailgate you're more likely to cause an accident by slamming on the brakes that you are running a yellow light (which is legal btw). The purpose of the stoplight is traffic control - not revenue generation.

1 was directed at the quote poster as he said there wasn't signs telling you, there are

2. unjust, blah blah blah.......ever get a parking ticket, is it any diff. doesn't matter who parked the car illegaly, owner still gets ticket. chances are you were driving the car and not somebody else. it's quite simple really , yellow means hurry up, red means stop. if your driving too fast to stop, who's fault is it............oh right the cities. no personnal responsibility

3. people will abuse your timing suggestions as they do know, it's human nature. to cheat if you can get away w/ it. you don't get tickets for running yellows.

whats sad is if they can do that there, whats stopping them from imposing giant unrealistic fines on everything else, and then when thats done, making up to fine you for.

2. A parking ticket isn't a crime. Running a red light is a Misdeameanor. Like I posted before a person has a right to face their accusor if charged with a Misdeameanor. The city chooses not to charge you but to settle out of court with a $75 fine. What's next? A city ordinance against drunk driving? If you get caught they simply write you a $75 ticket and you're off the hook? Ha.

3. Who are you, Ms Cleo? You can't predict what people will do. They certainly shouldn't base laws on what they 'think' people will do.

exactly. WE are in control. This is government by the people, for the people. WE should not let the elite few impose sanctions such as this upon the common man!!!

if your not ready to pay the fine, then don't do the crime.
there were 84,000 (yes that's eighty four thousand) red light tickets issued in the first seven months of operation - and 6,000 were not issued because they were questionable.

So, is there a red light running problem in Houston - I think we have enough data to now say there is?

If you don't hit people in their pocketbooks they don't seem to pay attention so now they can pay the city.

With those kinds of numbers, one of those 84,000 is highly likely to collect one or more of us in the next year.

Anyone who thinks cameras are an "invasion of privacy" really needs to rethink that.
You are in public anyways and therefore can be seen by anyone who happens to look in your direction. If you dont think there are spy sats in space that have been observing us for years anyway you are wrong.
Its no different than having someone on a corner looking, and writing down information, exceot that it doesnt get tired and doesnt blink.
there are far too many people on any given day going through any given metro intersection for the local govt to even TRY to spy on you. thousands of vehicles a day, mabye 10 people that have access to that system directly.
The one day a camera helps solve a crime that victimized a realitive of you, and youll be glad the cameras were there.
If you break the law, and we pretty much all do, on some level, be a man and own up to it. Pay your fine, or fight it in court.
I see it like this, they send you a fine , you can plead whatever you want, and fight in in court, if you are indeed innocent. If you were quilty, i dont know why you would want to "face your accuser in court" now i know that big $$$ in revenue looks awesome in the eyes of law makers.they will continue to raise money however on the backs of US, the citizens. The punishment should fit the crime, it ought not be a way to raise money. They will end up with a bunch of warrants because the ticket cost the same as the bike it was given for riding.

I see "trafic violation loans" in the future.
