bikers sought in beating of cager

Maryland State Police are asking the public's help in identifying three bikers who attacked a man in Templeville, leaving him with permanent brain injuries.

The attack occurred about 4:30 p.m. July 1 in the 700 block of Bear Pond Road, and the assailants may be from Hartly or Kenton. The victim, 45-year-old Robert E. Clegg, of Sudlersville, was in a black Dodge pickup driven by his wife, Deborah, when a yellow-and-black sport motorcycle struck it in the rear, and the rider fell onto the road.

The couple stopped to check on the man -- who was not wearing a helmet -- and two other cyclists, among a group of about 12, pulled up and started punching and kicking Robert Clegg.

He was taken to a Maryland hospital with critical head injuries and was in stable condition Monday. The biker who ran into the pickup, described as between 20 and 30, may have injuries to his face, hands and arms. He was riding a black-and-yellow Suzuki 2005 or GSX-R1000, which sustained substantial damage.

One of the assailants was between 29 and 35 years old, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and 300 pounds. Dressed in a dull red short-sleeved T-shirt, he may have injuries to his right hand from hitting the victim.

The second assailant was 25 to 30 years old, with dark spiked hair shaved on the sides and a hoop earring in his left ear. He was dressed in washed-style jeans and a blue jacket with a pattern on the back.

All three men rode foreign-made sport bikes.

Anyone with information on the assailants' identities or whereabouts may call state police in Centreville, Md., at (410) 758-1101

I seriously doubt they are blaming metrics for this because of revenue. they are probably targeting them because of a first hand eye witness description of the bikes and riders, I'd bet thats a better guess than yours.

I get the feeling though that we are not even hearing half of the whole story here. What if there was way more that led up to this like...maybe this couple in the truck were being a$$es to the bikes and caused some major road rage...eventually getting in front of said bikes and slamming on the brakes? We really have no clue what led up to this. The bikers could be randomly assaulting cagers for whatever but I really have a feeling there is more to this and I get the impression that the "eye witness" was probably the woman in the pickup truck who was probably just a tiny bit prejudice after watching her significant other beat to a freakin pulp. Not real sure how objective her testimony really is...you know what I mean? :confused1 Just my $.02

prolly true, there are a bunch of angry hill billies out there, but maybe a group of metric riders did get the "mob" syndrome and beat the guy silly for no reason except that their buddy was hurt. Maybe it was an arrogant rider being an and following to close for a tailgate touchin' shot and the couple tapped the brakes. I dunno, it is all to obvious something went on thats not being told. maybe a disinterested 3rd party will come forward and decribe what they saw.
