1st time build

So i picked up 97 tl1000 for cheap ot does run but figured i could use more as a learning bike when it comes to working on them. Was hoping to take it apart and put it back together, not to crazy replace a few parts with newer ones and add a head light. Trying to make it more into a streetfighter since it had no fairings already. just not sure where or how to start on something like that. So any ideas or would be helpful thanks.
