Harley Hating

What is up with the Harley hating this couple of days? I'm just not feeling the love anymore. Maybe I never had it

You got to atleast give me credit for this. She's fast enough to hang on with a sport bike .... Do I get a hug now? :icon_bigg

J/K!! LOL!

I don't have anything against Harleys, other than the attitude that most owners seem to get as soon as they buy one.

How did that go? "HD... converting gasoline into obnoxious noise since 1906, without the benefits of horsepower.."

The glory days were when AMF owned them... :laughing6

fyi, MH isnt a sportbike site but overall moto site. i just happens that most own bikes and have strong opinions. dont take it personal if you own a cruiser.

very nice, but seriously, this forum is not very HD friendly, sad to say, quite a few metric riders seem to think they can spend 6k on a new bike and get all arrogant. I dont understand it, and refuse to let it taint my opinion of most.

sweet bike man.
And +1 to what was already said.
Got no problem with the bikes, just with the ego's. That goes for sportbike riders too though.

i have nothing against harley owners... just the that are "too good" to wave or be nice to me because i'm not on a harley. same goes for sportbike riders. I had an old school ninja 600 as my first bike, it was an '87 model, and nobody waved. the way i see it if you are going to be an on your bike then take yourself out of the gene pool.

What about the hate coming from Harley riders lately. I have a few friends that ride metric cruisers and they even get hated on by the die hard Harley fans.

P.S. if it is designed in Germany now, why is it everyone still calls it an American cycle?

Boo to the idiots that can't see past brand names.

I have respect for all on 2 wheels, I give the wave to Harley riders alike.

I think that alot of the "tudes" are in fun, altho there are some that do have issues with "cruisers". But then the age group is pretty young on here as well....

I mean, I have a lot of friends whose dads ride cruisers.. so live and let live..

Kawa riders hate Honda, Honda riders hate Suzuki, sport bike riders hate Harleys, Harley riders hate sport bikes, don't take it personal.

For me, we had a Harley in the garage for a few weeks to polish it for sale. It is just not my cup of tea. I didn't like the ergonomics, and it was way too much chrome for practicality for me. :eh:

I have a co-worker who is a Harley rider and he is just as nice as he can be. Sadly, most, I have to say, do have an attitude I can care less about.

I have never heard a sport bike rider tell his buddies that rider of ______ brand of bike was trying to make it sound like his ______ brand by putting that exhaust on it.

heard a guy with his first new hearly straight up say that the guy leaving the ice house in angleton was trying to make his honda cruiser sound like a harley by putting an aftermarket exhaust on it.

I could not make up my mind about buying a Vrod or a Warrior, when ever I talked to a non harley guy they would say go with what you want. Everytime I talk to a harley guy, including my uncle they would not even hear me out, just cut me off and say buy a harley.

about your Vrod, how do you like the bars and ride position. I just can figure out what bars I want to put on mine, so many to chose from. I have my trackbike, so sportbike style riding is fine with me, but don't think I could do it on a cruiser, legs and arms are forward.

You tall?

Harley markets to a niche market. That niche market are the folks who buy most of the Harleys. Sure, they are exceptions to every rule but if you see their commercials, they just don't appeal to the general motorcycle community. Harley doesn't want to market to the general motorcycle community.

Then there is this kind:

A coworker of mine, well up there (he just retired) has been wanting a Harley for a long time but his wife won't let him get one. I asked him why not a scooter or something, considering he wants an automatic and never rode a bike before. He frowned and started glowing again when he explained to me how expensive the Harley is with all the mods he wants. It was a status symbol more than a motorcycle. He would be one of the folks who trailer a Harley to a show and trailer it back home and ride it all of 1000 miles a year, I know it. It would be like a precious oldtimer to him, I suppose.

Unfortunately it's the attitude of most harley riders that caused the backlash. Your typical harley rider doesn't consider anything made outside of a harley plant to be a "real" motorcycle. The irony of this thinking is that most harleys are not contemporary motorcycles technology. They use 80 year old technology and consider chrome a safety device.

What part? The majority of Harley owners I have met have an "attitude", and the technology of pushrod V's in a tube frame is somewhat dated, is it not?

Thats one hot HD, Koolin! I can't hate on 'em. When I first moved here to North Houston, I did not know any one and the only people I rode with were cruisers. I give em the deuce when I see em on the street...even if they are shirtless and without a helmet.
