You couldn't be more wrong, sir.

We are not "downing" Kawasaki. MotoGP is a prototype based series. The manufacturers are constantly developing their bikes. The fact is that Kawasaki only joined the game a few years ago and are way behind.

They have made some significant progress this year, but are still not competitive. Suzuki has been in the game a long time and has a dominant superbike in the AMA, but their MotoGP has been chit. Down on power/acceleration over the last few years. FINALLY this year, Hopper has been able to run up near the front. This guy should have been winning races 2 years ago. Chris the V won a race on the Suzuki this year, but it was in the rain.

It's nice to hear from the 2.5 week old race fans though.

Sorry for sticking my .02 in there. Just ignore my posts. I know nothing.

What I mean by it all being competitive is there are constant changes in the engineering. Who is on top now may not be on top later.

Maybe after a few years of being on MH I wont get dogged on all the time.:notworthy

Maybe we should make the engineers famous and worry about who gets who on the engineering squad.

You must obviously have missed....

His 125cc World Championship in his 2nd year in the class
His 250cc World Championship in his 2nd year in the class
His 5 MotoGP/500cc World Championships...
His 87 GP race victories...
The fact the he's scored more points than any racer in the history of GP racing...
Also that he's one of two people in racing history to win all three world championships...

With the recent success he has found, he should be trying to get on to the Factory Yamaha or Honda.

He's taking a step backwards.

The reason Kawi is going to give him a bigger contract is because he is apparently bringing over Monster Energy as his personal sponsor. We all know Monster sponsers many Kawasaki AMA race teams. So by enticing Hopper to come over with a bigger paycheck, Kawasaki in return receives more sponsorship money. It's a fiscal win win for both of them... but I still think Hopper is going to inferior machinery compared to his GSRV.

Does the name Jeremy Burgess mean anything to you?

History lesson...........

Burgess was Doohan's engineer when he was King of GP. Rossi got with him when he joined Honda's effort and won his first GP title. Burgess jumped the Honda ship with Rossi to Yamaha and thus in his first year with Yamaha he won ANOTHER championship for a manufacture who had been sorely lacking for quite a few years. And suddenly Honda was struggling. Honda said it was more machine than rider and that Rossi off something fierce. Rossi without Burgess would be a different story I'd bet. So yes the engineers are pretty ' as well. Rossi is better than the average rider due to his ability to develop a bike, ie: he can tell the engineers where they need to be looking for things like grip, drive, stability under braking and all the other things that make a one off GP bike able to win. Look at this year's Duc. Literally walks away on the long straights due to awesome power, but the handling and braking are off so Rossi can still beat them. So when you say it's more about the rider you are correct, but it's about the rider who can do MORE than ride, they can develop. Hopper is also a good development rider and that is why Kawi want's him 5 million worth. They seem to believe he can help them develop thier machine as he has done for Suzuki. End of lecture sorry for the length. There is a good Rossi history that was recently posted. It's about an hour long, but should be mandatory reading for anyone who calls themselves a race fan yet can't see Rossi is the best EVER. Sorry but his numbers are undeniable, and besides he's got more character in his left cheek than the rest of the grid combined. Look what the did to Max, and Sete. He got in thier heads and convinced them they couldn't beat him and they couldn't. He won before the lights went out!! If that isn't a bad then sign me up for some schoolin'

Rossi is the motorcycle version of Jordan, he plays better mind games than anyone in the sport... he told Giberneau that he would never win another race, while Gibs was in his prime.

Gibs never won a race again...

I'm an engineering nut, it is a job hazard. I watch MotoGP for the engineering marvels that are on the track that I will never be able to touch. I have never been to a race, would love to go. I do download as much video of the races as possible though, or catch what I can on the speed channel. I :notworthy to the technology. I honestly think Hopper will help improve the Kawi name on MotoGP just as he had with the GSRV. I'm a FNG here, and definitely more of dreamer than a racer. I will not lie about that. To be honest with you it would be a dream job to design or help out on one of those bikes more than ride one for me. I'll have to meet up with you guys in person at one of the MotoGP viewing events some time. I think it is amazing what those engineers can do with two wheels, oh and gobs and gobs of development money.

BTW- Rossi is the Micheal Jordan of MotoGP, hands down. He has so much control over his bike.
