Man, you ain't lying...I love that very fact about the track (although I have yet to go)...your bike can be severly ****ed up but you can still walk away, perhaps limping...but still walkin'...

Was it a track day or a race? Because racing is much more dengerous. We must differentiate that.

Why? If they were geared up and had the same accident, what would change? Neither one was apparently badly injured, and no cars were involved?

Increased factors: trees, concrete barriers, steel barriers, telephone poles, tractor trailers, cars, on coming traffic, coppers, animals, etc...

^^^ true, but not everytime, on every road.

But this is one of those endless track versus street debates.. to each their own.

I will say that lately the track has been much more crash happy than the street.

there will always be more crashes on the track, because people go to the track and push 110% of their abilities.

if everyone was to ride at the same level they would on the streets...same will happen. except there are 1million times more dead on the streets, than dead on the track.

granted that there are some nice roads and such out there, but remember, it's a public road. it's always gonna be unpredictable. one minute your riding one way, next minute you come back, and BAM! where did that roadkill come from? or who dropped that piece of 2x4?....as for the track, you can pretty much expect the same conditions almost every time you come around.

and last i checked, a lot more people have died on the street, than they have on the track...

i'll take crashing and living, over crashing and dying any day of the week..but maybe thats just me.

on the street a usually mundane crash can quickly turn into a fatal one due to objects on the side of the road, cars running over you, curbs, guardrails, road side debris, etc. tracks aren't just made safe to ride really fast on, they're also made safe to crash really fast on. i don't know of any roads designed with motorcycle crash safety in mind, do you?
