Wheelie penalty?

I know. Im such a jackass because ill occasionally pop the front wheel up. My question is to those that have been pulled over. How many of yall have gotten tickets and what was the fine? Im sure if they wanted to you could hit you with the book with a $500+ fine, impounded bike, take you to jail. Im not looking for that answer. I want to hear real world experiences assuming you werent being a jackass to the cop or excessively speeding/cutting between cars. Also assuming you have class m, helmet, bike is registered/insured. Anyone?

It will go down as how bad of a day the cop is having... combined with the way you present yourself... Most of the time they would just have a talk or let me go with a warning. The only time I got a fat ticket was in Bandera county and the cop lower the speed on the ticket so I could qualify for the defensive driving and not go straight to jail. A good "yes Sir and no Sir" goes long ways IMO

Caught x3 by the same cop.

First time, wheelied head on past a cop. He was going to give me a ticket, but came back and said his printer was broken, have a nice day. Free pass #1.

I was stupid enough to wheelie in the same zip code, and got busted red handed again. Got a stern talking to. Free pass #2.

I put the motard away for a few weeks, and got stupid again.. Didn't even see the cops this time.
Multiple cops showed up at work looking for me, since they knew me pretty well by then. I was fully prepared to go to jail, loose my job etc.. For some reason, i walked away with no penalties. I did get sent home from work for a few days. I deserved much worse.

I've learned my lesson x3, and i don't expect another free pass. I was a dumb F*ck. You know what they say.. Theres a time and place for everything!

I completely agree. iv gotten out of more tickets than i can count (none for wheelies). We all know theyre are illegal so why have a sour attitude when you get caught and he questions you about it. Good reply

Anyone else been caught?

Unfortunately theres no legal place to do wheelies on public roads but assuming you werent doing them between traffic down 1960, its awesome to hear he let you go with a warning!

I don't pop wheelies, but all my friends do. One of them decided to ride one smooth past a trooper on 2920 about a year ago and got pulled over. When he caught back up to us, he got a ticket for wreckless driving. After further inspection of the ticket, the wrong plate number was recorded and it even had the make and color wrong of the bike. So, he did get a ticket for wreckless driving and it was later dismissed.

I have had a stern talking to, 3 times in 39 years of riding, for wheelies. The yes sir, no sir is the way to go. Two of those times the cops threatened me with reckless driving. One of the pull overs the cop just wanted to check out my new 93 ZX11. He was on a KZ1000 Police bike.

I got one before and it was a $200+ fine. When the judge asked me how I was pleading I told her I do not understand the charge. She pulled the ticket and read it out loud. The officer had wrote down Whoolie instead of Wheelie. It was dismissed. Got lucky on that one.

35+ years of wheelies on the street and I've been seen doing it twice (that I know of) and both times the cop just kept driving as if nothing happened.

Just lucky, I'm sure.

Sugar land cop pulled me over for filtering at a red light and wheelie'n after it turned green. he mostly just wanted to make sure the motard was legal, then asked why i was on this stupid bike and need to get a real bike. in the end he gave me a warning for both. i was nothing but respectful the whole time.
Alvin cop pulled me over while riding with another for cutting the most pathetic wheelie. i started giving bullshit answers and he knew it. gave us a stern yelling then told us to do the wheelies in someones private land (where we pulled over at) cuz he doesn't care as long as we are not on his road.
Webster cop beeps his horn as i pop a wheelie in the parking lot of renos. i parked and went inside. nothing came of it.

I have never known you to pass up an opportunity to wheelie.
