07 gsxr 750 Stator Rotor

Where should I start.. lol.. I really just have a few questions.. I'll give y'all a little bit of info first. Went to start the bike the other day and battery kept draining.Charged the battery and tested it. A ok.. As soon as I would turn the key, it would drain. Went from 12v to 8v in a matter of seconds. Disconnected the battery and test it. Would be back at 12v.(was kinda confused) My rectifier was directly connected to the battery.(a friend of mine did this along time ago) Now, I know better.Just going to buy a new one with the right connections on it. So I took the stator cover off because this has been an issue for a while. The stator looks fine to me but the stator rotor is not so good.Metal chips coming off the inside of it.I'll post some pics when I get home tonight. My question is do I need to replace the stator or should I just change the RR and stator rotor.
Thanks in advance..

It's a known problem with the GSXR's around 06' 07' years.
On my case I had to replace all of it. Because of the bad rectifier it damage the stator and the battery.
I purchased a bigger better rectifier with bigger fins to cool it better and also I relocated from the radiator to the frame of the bike.
I found a local shop to rewire my stator and they did a great job for a reasonable price.
Also I went ahead and spent the extra money getting me a Shorai Lithium Battery which is about 10lbs lighter

You need to load test the battery. If it was at 12v with no load, you turned on the key and it instantly dropped to 8v, odds are a there are a couple of cells fried in the batt or a huge load coming from the bike.

If you can start the bike you need to check running voltage to see what you have there too. Which should be around 14v. Then start diagnosing from there.

I would check with the dealer to see if that year has a recall about the rectifier. If it does give them your VIN and they can tell you if it's been done yet or not. It was replaced for free on my 08.

there is also a recall for the front brake master cyl. That was free too.

for $37 bucks you can install this, and see whats going on voltage wise as you ride

I've had one for the last hear or two, mounted up under the windshield on a little piece of lexan I cut to fit and attached with some Velcro tape

http://www.aerostich.com/5-function-digital-meter.html

It gets wet and makes alien numbers, then drys out and works fine again...

Thanks for all the replies.. Here are the pictures I promised. Sorry for the late response.Y'all know how work life is.. There's was no way for me to really test it.. Couldn't get the bike back on so I just disconnected everything and cracked the case open which I'm glad I did from the condition of the rotor. A lot of metal pieces that could of ended up in my engine; thank for those magnets. As you can see in the picture.Sorry it was early this morning and it was dark out.(mind you I've been trying to figure out why there is always metal pieces in my oil.Tiny but they glimmer in it.I think I'm flush the engine next..

Stator in the first pic looks like it is going...looks black in the lower left hand side of the pic. The rotor needs to be replaced as well.
