SHNF WEST SIDE TRAILS to OPEN

We'll we got the trees cleared for some of the west side trails in the SHNF and Jason says he will have those trails open this weekend for riding again. There are washouts, tall grasses, exposed roots, and lots of pine needles covering these trails, and they need to be ridden. What there is not is fallen trees blocking these trails, thanks to all the volunteers that gave up a Saturday last weekend to come out and cut them all out. BTW: bow season opened last weekend, don't tick off the hunters, especially if they're armed.

Be careful if you're riding the west side trails, they need to be beat down again. Our "Old Dudes" have 10 guys going out late Friday and spending the night at Kelly's Pond and riding a little then, and 11 guys riding Saturday morning there to try and beat the trails back in some. No down trees on those trails now, but washouts, grass, and pine needles with roots exposed under them are all some hazards you guys need to be aware of and pace yourself accordingly.

Ride was great thanks to u guys!

Trails still need to be ridden as its still overgrown and they are hiding some of the dangers underneath. But Im glad they are back open! Rode fron TH208 to Kellys pond to Honey Moon to woodpecker to the TH. Then went out did the honeymoon again.

Becareful on some of the exposed roots on Kellys pond south of 1375. They will grab ur front tire and make up go over the bars

So jealous... Well, if I can coax my better half to spoon these new babies on when he gets home, I'm riding this weekend... If not, then next weekend.

u rode from East to West it looks like....I love Honeymoon trail but only west to east. It flows perfectly that direction. We rode it both ways and definitely didn't like it east to west.

We were riding a figure 8 loop which took us down Honeymoon trail twice that same direction. I'm like you, I like the flow of it west to east much better but we had 16 guys riding the figure 8 loop at different times so didn't want to go against the grain. That is my section of trail BTW, I'm trail marshal for the Honeymoon trail and will have that trail like a highway as soon as I find more time to clean it up. Use to flow very well and was one of the faster sections in the SHNF when it's clean.
