Stubblefield rec area..

Has anyone camped here (good/bad experiences)? Looking at this as an alternative since Cagle is booked until what seems to be the end of time. What about the overflow area, is it safe when you're away from camp? (Don't want anyone messing with our stuff if we are on the trails).. Thanks for any info...

I didn't think you could camp there, only Kellys Pond across the street if you wanna camp and ride.
Camped out at Kellys many times, never had an issue with other campers.

Stubblefield lake does have a campground with some facilities. It was temporarily closed a few months back I'm not sure if it's reopened yet or not. But be advised you could not connect to the trails without going on the forestry roads from there which of course you need a plated bike to do that. Kelly's pond is primitive camping only no water but it is free Stubblefield lake there's a fee.

It's up in the air now, the bf wants to wait until it's either cooler or we've had a bit of rain.. He isn't looking forward to a hot dry two days of camping since we did that last week at Swan... But we might go for a day ride Sunday... And then as soon as it cools off we will check out both Stubblefield and Kelly's.

Yea, I'd agree with you but the better half was like "I want to wait until it's cool enough to build a fire"... I was like, really?? but it's all good.. We had taken a back-roads ride to TWS (Texas World Speedway) so the weekend wasn't entirely a bust..

My son and I have camped there and the pond across the road (Kelly's). If you do go and it's family friendly we would gladly join if I'm off.

Actually there are some really awesome hidden camp sites down the road from Kelly's a ways that are literally on the lake. It's an awesome spot to camp unless you're worried about little ones wandering into the water.
