A bad day for a squid

It's only a block they said.
You're going slow they said.
Nothing can happen they said.
I'm a lucky or unlucky living statistic.

a duck because my luck sucks.

Front end washed out on silt on the road while I was heading down the block to the gas station. My clutch level broke on impact and ripped a small hole in my hand. Pulled thorns out of my face and chest. My glasses almost took my eye out. I was next to a curbing too i think. .
.
Lady behind me saw it all and asked what happened and I said it was something on the road. Asked if I needed an ambulance and I told her no. I went to pick up my still running bike on its side and put it on its kickstand. She pulled up and asked if i was ok. Also asked if she could follow me home around the block and told her sure. Nice lady. I thanked her.

It's open season on me. This cat is running low on lives. Stitched up and drugged up. Gear up y'all. Don't fool yourself thinking nothing came happen at a short distance and at a slow speed.

I'll be caging it for a while until I heal up.

Glad you weren't hurt worse. How you not geared up in this nice weather? Not passing judgement. Just curious because last few mornings, mesh jacket was starting to feel chilly. Can't imagine squiding it.

I had put up my gear after coming home from work and started doing maintenance on the bike. I checked my tire pressures and saw that I could top it off a few pounds so didn't feel like running back inside to gear up. The gas station is maybe half a mile down the road and I only made it a quarter mile there.

I'm typically geared up except for short stints to the gas station to fill up air or gas.
