your battery is dead, have you even busted out a DVOM and checked the voltage as suggested here by the vets?

on an 09 its highly likely that you have a transistor type (MOSFET) RR, on the chance you have a thyristor type RR and it's mounted in an area of the bike that gets lots of fresh air i seriously doubt your RR is bad.

Check your battery, charge it, then run the voltage drop test that was also reccomended to you (along with other charging system checks) to verify that your RR, stator, and other charging system components (if any) are working correclt.y

I'm beginning to think the bike is fine and that my battery had died. I thought the battery tender was keeping it fresh for me, but as it turns out based on the checks at Motorcycles Unlimited, my battery tender was dead. It has probably been shot for quite awhile. I got a new battery installed and picked up a new battery tender from Motorcycles Unlimited. So far so good. Now I just need to get out and ride it more.
