ive never ridden a katana, but ive never heard a good thing about them. from what i understand theyre heavy, underpowered and the suspension sucks.

while it is subjective, they look pretty dated to me.

Everything Azylum said. Get an SV, much better bike IMO.

Exclamation

there isnt much u can do to them, sprockets, intake, exhaust. but u still have a katana. this bike hasnt changed much, underneath the body , the 05's are basically the same as the previous generation kats. they just changed the looks. they could use upgraded suspension and injectors (not carb) and lose weight

all in all its just a dated design, if u got one your prolly an

The Katana is heavy, but is carries it's weight pretty well.
The engines are stone axe reliable and they'res no eliability problems associated with the bike.
Handling is acceptable, the seating position is fairly comfortable with good accomadations for a passenger.

They're a good beginner bike, especially the 600.

the older versions (pre-98) had a CCT spring (around 10$) that needed changing due to wear but thats it, and valve adjustments (no shims) +++
like Patrick says "reliable" engine, my 96 started in 28deg weather last winter in 2 tries, but it "was" in good shape till after i sold it
