sounds like an interesting story behind all this... did the guy really fall out of a truck? how did the motorcycle hit the guy after he'd been hit by an 18-wheeler and 2 cars? Etc., etc....

sucks regardless though.

No, he fell out of the space shuttle. DUH! People and animals fall out of vehicles pretty regular, that is why it is against the law to have kids in the back of a p/u. Also note it was 2:30 or something in the morning, maybe alcohol was involved, maybe not....

Again, early morning... dark... how well do you see what is in front of an 18 wheeler in the daytime? How many times has a truck run over something and it came out before you had a chance to swerve?

Yes it is very important to keep your distance in front of you when your riding. The driver infront may not care if he/she runs over an object because they feel safe in a 4 wheeled automobile but it could cause a motorcycle to lose control.
