you want to make sure everyone around is keeping up with their yard work and all that when you are looking around the neighborhood.......and that their houses look nice and neat from the street.

i've had neighbors in the past that didn't mow, water, or do anything with their yard........it sucks

Good luck with it, Celine and I are kinda in the same boat, but we are building, so we went though all the scoping and looking at used houses, and worked with a PITA dumb b*tchy lady with Remax Space Center Pearland in Silverlake. Hope everything goes smoothly. We are doing our mortgage though a credit union in Lake Jackson, TDECU, because of their rates. A few neighbors of mine work for mortgage companies and inspection companies, etc so they are a good refrence for questions. If your credit score is good, you should have lending companies fighting for your business. Our "big 3" were:

-neighborhood
-taxes
-flood area

And BTW now is an awesome time to see how much water your area gets with heavy rain. One sub'd we looked at had houses high from the water, but every road into the sub'd was under 2+feet of water.
