The 06 was a beast. Plus, you should be able to pick one up for cheap. GL

I'll jump into the fray, as stated by my esteemed collegue in an earlier post, you can take the stats version of the fastest bike and get your can kicked by someone in a lesser CC bike. It's all in the rider and less to do with the machine.

You can spend top dollar on accessories and tuning but in the end the difference is going to be the guy in the saddle. The number of riders that can run the out of a bike to the edges of its limits are few and far between.

I think it's good to have an idea of what you want before you spend your hard earned money, but the reality is that you should be more concerned about getting a good bike at a good deal and learning as you go along what you need to make the bike more of what you want. There are plenty of go fast parts and people more thank willing to make you part with your money to get you where you want to be.

I out ran a bmw 3 weeks ago with my 06. But I put my bike on a massive diet. Fully topped off The bike sits at 400 even. From factory stats say they are 444 curb weight

lol . the 1000 / busa aren't far apart . Ones light , and ones not . Now if Tq is your game you want a Hayabusa FYI if you dont stretch/lower them
they handle very well for a large machine . Rider once said to me quote (I have never seen a Busa go around a corners so fast )

FYI like posted its all rider skill . Both my R6S or DR650 made a many liter bike owners go WTF!

Bone stock the 07-08 all day long. If your building a motor and trying to get in the low 8's-high 7's in the 1/4mile you want a 05-06 because they don't have the hydraulic clutch. Some also say the 05-06 have more mid range power but I can't tell. It pretty much comes down to..
05-06 (no hydraulic clutch)
07-08 (hydraulic clutch)

Absolutely not true. With equal riders the machinery is the difference. Even a better rider can't win on a slower, ill handling motorcycle.

Im sorry, but what a stupid reply. Ill give you a stupid answer to be fair. lets say we put my 5 year old on duc 1299 (assuming she could ride it). and lets say Marquez is on a klx110. Id say marquez is still gunna whoop dat around the track. RACER Xs point was that if he doesnt have the skillset to ride any 1000cc bike, it wont make any difference what year model he buys.

That's a pretty stupid comparison bro sorry. I get the premise of what you're saying but that's pretty ridiculous.

Coming from CDill (one of the fastest guys around) I don't find this to be stupid and I can agree.

My experience, I can take my r6 and go run a 1:46. If I got on a 250 I could not reach a 1:46 (probably not even if I were a better rider on the 250).
