Maybe the thing is programmed to tell you to update to a newer model like the 9500?

great radar! had one then upgraded to the 9500.

never had issues with any of them. Email the manufacturer.

I hate my 8500 POS. I have one in my truck and does the same thing. it has something to do with the power supply voltage over time. The V1 in my car has worked flawlessly for many years. Also, something that I have noticed is that the V1 will pick up indierct lazer hits where the Escort only gets direct hits. Which means you get a better chance to slam the brakes when lazered.

My 8500 has been doing the same thing. I let it run its course during the Self Cal, but it does it about once a week now and sometimes twice a day. I've been too lazy to research what the problem is.
