Where is a good place in the S.E to get tires mounted?

I need to get a tire mounted and balanced on a PERFECT chrome wheel. I am sick of getting raped on labor every time its time to change tires. I recently went to IXIT Cycles on 518 in League City and they charged me $38 to mount and balance a rear with the wheel OFF the bike... Thats like dealer rate.....freakin robbery.... I swear I am thinking about buying a manual machine and do them myself but in the essence of time, anyone know a place that can do em reasonable without jacking up my chrome wheel?

Thanks guys.

Thanks for the tip....I am gonna go look it up now..

Still need some type of balancer though...

I remember when I worked at dealers, we would usually get 1/2 hr labor.... at that time labor was $67 hr, so basically $33 and THAT was a dealer... I would think the smaller places would be cheaper. Not trying to be a tight wad or anything but.... I just can't stand spending that much money for something that takes 5 mins to do. I could mount it with spoons or even screw drivers if I wasn't worried about scratching the chrome.

You guys talking about Lynn and Pasadena Discount Motorcycle? THat was the owners wife for years.... MUCHO powder been slung around that place.:confused2

$10.00 off the bike, we're used to dealing with everything from Magnesium or Carbon fiber race wheels to chrome. We'll get you taken care of, no problem.

HOLY thats cheap!!!! Ofcourse i would use $20-30 in gas going up to 1960 and back but....:laughing6

Still a great price!!! Wish you were closer.

I might look into cycle gear but I know the CG on I45 has idiots working back there. They already jacked up one of my other wheels. if they would let me use the machine for $20, I would do it myself or something. I had a Kawi dealer in Tx City do them once and they did a good job, new stems and chrome weights but they were almost $40 per wheel also.

I am gonna check out Cycle Stop in Webster and see how they can do.

I go to discount motorcycle tire all the time. Just go straight to the back and deal with the tire guys not that lady. Its $25 mounted and balanced if you don't buy the tire from em. Free mounting and balancing if you do.

bought several sets of tires from discount tire in pasadena, never had a problem, it's all about negotiating the price up ft. they can't mount/balance for free, they gotta pay their mechanics somehow.

Take the ride up to Motorcycles Unlimited. I live in Friendswood and I'm telling you it's worth the trek. 35 front and 37 for the rear on the bike and 10 bucks or so off the bike. Plus everyone is nice and friendly.
