Daily Craig: 'Hard Knocks' is over for Texans
Craig Roberts returns to KPRC 2 with his 'Daily Craig' column.
(DON'T PARK IN FIRE LANE)
It's over. I feel a void. "Hard Knocks part 5 with the Houston Texans" is in the history vault of TV shows.
I feel as if the audience has just been cut from the TV Squad. None of the executives came to my house to sit me down and tell me how hard I worked to watch the show five straight Tuesdays. Do they think it was easy to not miss a single episode? I didn't just watch. I took notes. That's the thanks WE GET. We needed to know the TEXANS PASSED GAS IN THE TEAM MEETINGS. In fact I would have been disappointed to learn they hadn't. That kind of honesty is what makes GREAT TV.
We did learn some things from the big TV WHEELS FROM OUT OF TOWN. The operations guy, DOUG WEST, had to make the phone calls to those players who got cut. Asking them to come to the slaughter at the stadium is no easy thing to do. SMITH AND O'BRIEN HAD THE EASY JOB. "Thanks for coming in. You were great, but we want to go in a different direction." If that direction is DOWN we'll know it in a hurry. The kid with all the socks got socked. EZ the Aggie got his walking papers too. However, the walking papers turned into running papers with the Dolphins.
Now it's on to WEEK ONE against KANSAS CITY. We'll see just how TV READY the Texans really are. And maybe it's just me, but if I run the OAKLAND RAIDERS I would offer a job to A's closer Sean Doolittle. He would become a true DOOLITTLE'S RAIDER. Maybe I could write a TV show around that. I gotta root for Charles James on the Ravens practice squad.
