Sneak Peek: 2016 Kawasaki ZX-10R
Kawasaki has started promotion for its new 2016 ZX-10R superbike, with numerous upgrades based upon the factory team's World Superbike racing exploits.
Kawasaki has begun to release some information on its new upcoming 2016 ZX-10R, with a teaser photo accompanied by a press release that includes quotes from the Kawasaki Heavy Industries project leader, Yoshimoto Yasuda. According to Yasuda, the new ZX-10R will be an evolution of the current machine—which certainly is a good base to start with—and "not a 'clean sheet' design."
Still, according to the release, there will be numerous changes throughout the new ZX-10R, all based upon technical experience gained through the factory team's World Superbike Championship exploits, including Tom Sykes' 2013 WSBK Championship campaign, and Jonathan Rea's currently successful 2015 season effort. Outwardly apparent changes will be "subtle yet highly effective changes to the (front fairing) shape," and "a comprehensive upgrade of the suspension components and the adoption of a premium grade braking system," as well as "new, state-of-the-art rider aids and other technology." The international press launch is scheduled for Barcelona, Spain in October.
“With the new model we have focused our development resources on an overall engineering and performance improvement," said Yasuda. "We are proud of the result; it means a significant advance in terms of both chassis and engine performance as well as providing the platform to introduce new, state-of-the-art rider aids and other technology. The input the KHI development team has received from the Kawasaki Racing Team, and riders, Jonathan Rea and Tom Sykes has created what we are sure many will feel is the most competitive and potent Ninja ZX-10R yet. A motorcycle equally at home on the race track or as a highly responsive daily riding road machine.”
Stay tuned for more information as we get it.
