Texas Tracks guide/review?

I've only done one track day so far and i'm just getting started. I want to know what my options are. I have done some research. I only know of one track day organizer, ridesmart. Ridesmart seems to be the most economical choice unless I fork over thousands for a membership at a specific track or know a member. Am I missing any others?

The 7 tracks of Texas

MSRH
ECR
COTA
GSS
HH
TWS (Texas World Speedway)
MRC

Which of these tracks have open days without membership or having to wait for ridesmart days? Does that even exist? Or are they not worth the headache running without an organization. I don't think I'm ready for CMRA so I did not look into race days.

LSTD.com is another track day vendor. Been around for 14 years.

Harris Hill offers track access. Contact them directly for a test run.

My advice is to look at each tracks calendar posted on their site and plan accordingly.

We are so fortunate to have close tracks and a few orgs to choose from. Trust me it could be way worse.

Also keep an eye out for a whoop day. He does some days at msrh

Mr. Whoopie. He has a deal worked out with msrh and does a few part to play days a year. Basically open track 20 on 20 off.

It's 30 minute sessions at the top of the hour and you need to do under about a 2:05

Haven't heard of a whoop day for a while. Other than ridesmart, msrh allows member days and they can invite a friend or two. Lstd is another Texas organization that mainly does TWS (Texas World Speedway) in college station and Cresson in Dallas and the Friday before race weekends. Groove union may run a couple wknds at gss coming up soon

I've been hearing mixed things about GSS. It does have its own thread started already in this subforum.

I don't think I'm fast enough for a whoop day but how does one get informed about these days? Msrh calendar?

From what I've heard, Whoopie is out of the game.

I've heard HHR has some open motorcycle days on Mondays (call the track for details)

Without being invited out by a member of the other tracks, you will have to ride with an organization. RideSmart, LSTD, GU, etc

Anyone doing days at MSRH, only got to one of Whoops days but liked the way it was run. Got more track time and a clearer track. Have done a few Ridesmart days which are OK, but spend a lot of time working through traffic.

Riding as much as possible anytime you can is good. I don't care what track it is as long as I get to ride.
