Texans trim roster to 53, "Hard Knocks" fan favorites react on Twitter
The Texans have trimmed their roster to the league-mandated 53 players, and several players featured on HBO's "Hard Knocks" were among those who were let go.
Most notably among the cuts was cornerback Charles James II, who made a name for himself on "Hard Knocks" with his flashy socks. The undersized defensive back also received time at running back in the Texans' third preseason game against the New Orleans Saints.
"Well it's been real Houston I appreciate all the people who became real fans of Charles James," he said on his Twitter account.
Undrafted linebacker Kourtnei Brown, who returned an interception for a touchdown against the Broncos, was also cut. Brown, 27, had been signed with five other teams before the Texans but has never taken a snap in an NFL game.
Former Texas A&M receiver EZ Nwachukwu and Norfolk State linebacker Lynden Trail were also released.
Wide receivers Chandler Worthy and Damaris Johnson, who played in all of the Texans games in 2014, was cut.
Running back Chris Polk, and safety Quintin Demps, who had some screen time on "Hard Knocks" did make the cut.
