FZ1 FTW!!! Better suspension (fully adjustable front AND rear), brakes and bigger badder motor. Plus it has a quarter fairing for decent wind protection.
I have had several bikes over the years and this has been my favorite so far.
Hauls and handles like a sportbike, comfy like a couch. Pretty much the best of both...IMHO.

alot of 919 owners in the "naked bikes" section.
I was looking at this bike closely for street duty.
One thing I learned is the bike is essencially unchanged since its inception, soo look for a lightly used one and save alot of $$. The $$ you save can be used to upgrade/fix the things that need attention, which is'nt very much like Patrick said. If your a honda guy and you want classic styling and ample street performance, I think thats the best thing out as of now. I was hoping they would do a few updates on the bike this year, but no luck. They completely revised the hornet 600 in Europe, but I doubt we'll get anything new to replace the 919 anytime soon.

Thanks a ton guys this has been a lot of help!

Yeah you know what got me started on this bike was seening reviews on the Hornet in Europe now that I think about it. I just hoping that the '07 US 900 had maybe gone through the same thing.

I really do like this bike but I'd really like all that it can be. If I bought one and the following year they came out with a new model I'd be ticked off.

TXLURCH is right the 1250 Bandit is right up my alley, that is a sweet looking ride. I just would like to stick with Honda and I don't really want to pay that much for it. I may look into a used 919 that sounds like a pretty good suggestions then I can do some needed mods

We'll see,
Thanks again

I don't have any personal experience with these bikes, but EZMoney on here bought an 06 sometime last year and he loves it. Keeps up with the sportbikes and has the comfort of his Harley. PM him and I'm sure he'll give you any info he might have. Give him a couple of days to get the PM as he is not on the board often.

So what would you say the differences are between it and you 600F4 in power and handling? Does it pretty good exhilaration, does it seem top heavy, what?

Not too instigate, but if you want to try out the Bandit let me know. Mine is an older model, but the stock power on the 1250 and mine is pretty close, before you mod the 1250. Ergos are pretty much identical.

Main gripe I have with mine is carbs and it's a little buzzy, like all the older air/oil cooled Zuks.

It hangs with the sportbikes I ride with no problem.

Who? :confused1

Me?

Nahhhh :icon_bigg

I just am too darn long legged to sit on the new sportbikes for very long. The back of my boot is pretty much touching my , and legs go numb shortly.

But I like the "standard" for riding position, cheap insurance, and the looks on peeps when I am still there in the twisties on that old Bandit...

You might look at the older ZRX1200 Kaws as well... they go pretty good too..

you might want to visit www.superhawkforum.com and www.sportbikes.net and look at the superhawk subforum for more comments.

the bikes are almost identical in speed and acelleration other then at high speeds +130 the 919 dosent have a fairing or windscreen so it pwns you in the face with lots of wind

the 919 is a bit faster but it's also WAY more comfie to ride and if my dad ever gave me the bike i'd put a cage on it cuz that would be super fun bike to stunt

The old Superhawks(circa 97-00) were great fun bikes...Good midrange torque outta that twin. The old TL1000R and S Zukes were faster but the Hawk was still cool. It got HORRIBLE fuel mileagle though... THose twin 46mm Mikunis(I believe) were THIRSTY....Like 20mpg thirsty...:laughing6

I have only rode one 919. It was a great riding bike, perfect for commuting, smooth injection..Not all that powerful though. If it was 115rwhp I would be suprised. Probably a good stunt bike though. Reminded me a lot of the Zuke Bandit 1200 with less torque.

for what you get with the 919, it's way over priced. i'd much rather have an 07 Kawi Z1000.

I say this being a devout Honda fan myself, but...

I would have to chime in with Texlurch. If you're looking at a naked liter bike like the 919, I'd consider the new Suzuki Bandit. I believe the new FI Bandit has a lot to offer not to mention you can get it with ABS for only $300 more than the 919.

Patrick has had a Bandit as well. He might be able to give you a comparison of the differences.

The 1250 with a slipon, K&N and mild TFI tune made 114 rwhp and 92 ft-lbs.. with trq over 80 ft-lbs from 3000 to 7000

Hp is comparable to mine, tq is up, and the FI and cooling make for a smoother engine. Not to mention they finally put a 6th gear in the thing.
