You take the class the SHNF rangers provide. Only has one this year and only 18 participates. Only one is a Sept 12th and 13th, but filled up in 3 days. You had to be a member of the Texas Trails Coalition first off, they send out an email letting their members know when the class is being held, and first come first served on the participates. There are dirt bikers, 4-wheelers, hikers, bicyclist, equestrians that signed up. Only way you can use a chainsaw in the SHNF is to be certified. Most everyone that signed up will help clear the west side trails on 10/3 so we can get them open again.

join up, then you'll know when the next class is.
