Texans reduce roster to 75 players

The Houston Texans have one preseason game remaining, but the league mandated cut-down deadline arrived on Tuesday and the team has reduced the roster to 75 players.

The waived players include wide receivers Alan Bonner, Jace Davis and Travis Labhart, and offensive linemen Aaron Adams, Cody White and Bryan Witzmann along with outside linebacker Jason Ankrah.

Also defensive lineman Chris Nield and inside linebacker Jeff Tarpinian have been released.

Punter Will Johnson was also waived and both safety Terrance Parks (hamstring) and tight end Anthony Denham (shoulder) were waived/injured.

Offensive lineman David Quessenberry was moved to the non-football illness list and does not count toward the 75-player limit. Quessenberry has been with the team working out, but not practicing, throughout training camp. He was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin Lymphoma on June 10, 2014 and is officially in remission as he tries to return to playing with the Texans.

2015 sixth round draft pick, Reshard Cliett, will be placed on injured reserve after tearing his ACL in the first week of training camp.

Houston also officially added offensive tackle Chris Clark to the roster after acquiring him in a trade with the Denver Broncos on Monday.
